Sellaronda

The Sellaronda is a scenic loop around the Sella—a dramatic mountain in the heart of the Italian Dolomites. You can make it all the way around in a day, whether you’re on skis, a bike, or your own two feet.

Originally famous as a winter ski circuit, the Sellaronda has become a summertime favourite for cyclists, especially mountain bikers and e-bike riders. Whether you’re after a scenic challenge or a high-alpine adventure, this is one of the most iconic loops in Europe.

The best part? It’s an adventure — the real fun lies in connecting the trails and chairlifts from valley to valley. There are many ways to explore the Sellaronda—on mountain bike trails, on winding roads, or a mix of both. The day I circled the Sella, I mostly rode the trails, but dipped onto the road now and then. It’s all doable if you’re willing to just go with it.
